TASKS OF INTELLIGENCE DEPARTMENT J2
· Carrying out operational level intelligence;
· Participating in planning, control and sustainment of operations;
· Participating in determining combat training and supply requirements for operational forces and controlling readiness of the forces for operations;
· Participating in development of doctrines and field manuals of LAF joint forces, services and functional areas;
· Organizing internal and activity security of the JHQ.
FUNCTIONS OF INTELLIGENCE DEPARTMENT J2
· Planning and carrying out operational level intelligence and security;
· Collecting, analysing and allocating intelligence at the JHQ;
· Evaluating and estimating threats to the security of forces in the area of operations;
· Developing intelligence products;
· Supporting planning, control and sustainment of operations;
· Participating in planning and organizing LAF joint and international exercises;
· Determining combat training and supply requirements for reconnaissance units of operational forces;
· Developing chapters on intelligence and security for doctrines and field manuals of LAF joint forces, services and functional areas;
· Evaluating and estimating threats to the security of the JHQ;
· Executing control of JHQ internal security measures.
FUNCTIONS OF INTELLIGENCE DEPARTMENT J2 BRANCHES
INTELLIGENCE PLANNING BRANCH:
· Participating in planning of operations;
· Developing intelligence products during planning of operations;
· Participating in the planning process of NATO and EU coalition forces operations;
· Supporting planning and organization of Lithuanian Armed Forces joint and international exercises;
· Determining combat training and support requirements for operational forces reconnaissance units;
· Participating in coordination and control of Lithuanian Armed Forces activity;
· Participating in development of chapters of LAF joint forces, services and functional areas doctrines and field manuals, determining intelligence support for operations planning process;
· Participating in military cooperation programmes.
SECURITY BRANCH:
· Participating in operations planning and execution process;
· Estimating and determining threats to the security of forces in the area of operations;
· Developing internal and operations security requirements for preparation of servicemen for operations;
· Estimating threats to internal security of the JHQ and developing security plan;
· Implementing internal security measures and procedures at the Joint Headquarters;
· Controlling status of the JHQ internal security measures and carrying out of internal security procedures;
· Instructing the JHQ personnel in security issues.
INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS AND ANALYSIS BRANCH:
· Participating in the activity of Joint Operations Centre;
· Conducting basic and current intelligence evaluations;
· Developing intelligence products and providing them to the users;
· Participating in development of chapters on intelligence support for doctrines and field manuals.
INFORMATION COLLECTION AND MANAGEMENT BRANCH:
· Planning and organizing collection of information;
· Organizing management of information requirements;
· Conducting open source intelligence;
· Administrating intelligence data base.
