Tasks of CIS Department J6:

  • Plan, organize and control CIS support for operations;
  • Identify and estimate lacking CIS capabilities for operations;
  • Plan and organize provision of CIS to the JHQ.

Functions of CIS Department J6:

  • Participating in operations planning, conduct and sustainment process;
  • Participating in planning CIS support for operations of NATO, EU and coalition forces;
  • Determining CIS training and supply requirements for operational forces;
  • Controlling preparedness of operational forces to provide CIS support;
  • Coordinating liaison between armed forces, civilian authorities, international, governmental and non-governmental organisations in CIS field for operations planning and conducting;
  • Identifying and estimating lacking CIS capabilities for operations and providing recommendations to the Chief of Joint Headquarters on their requirement;
  • Participating in the process of LAF CIS capabilities development;
  • Planning and organizing provision of CIS to the Joint Headquarters;
  • Organizing the JHQ CIS support;
  • Participating in initiation and conducting of LAF joint and international exercises planning process;
  • Coordinating participation of units in international CIS exercises;
  • Organizing CIS support for LAF joint and international exercises;
  • Coordinating preparation and fulfilment of LAF and separate units' activity plans in CIS field;
  • Determining training requirements in CIS field and coordinating the course of training;
  • Participating in organization and execution of combat readiness control;
  • Representing Lithuanian Armed Forces at national and international institutions, NATO and EU operational level working meetings in CIS field;
  • Planning international cooperation of the JHQ in CIS field and coordinating international cooperation of military units in CIS field;
  • Participating in development of doctrines and field manuals for LAF joint forces, services and functional areas;
  • Developing LAF CIS doctrine and field manuals regarding CIS;
  • Analysing and summarizing information on CIS Lessons Identified during operations and exercises;
  • Refining doctrines, field manuals and revising training requirements in CIS field taking into consideration the Lessons Identified.
